Cody James Bolken was a total country boy at heart, with a heart for all people and all walks of life. He left Eagle, Idaho to go play college football at Southern Utah University, before heading to the rugged North Dakota back country to cut his teeth in construction - like he knew his dad and grandfather had done decades before. I’m forever grateful that after his 5 years in North Dakota he came to Phoenix to live with me for about a year, before coming back to Idaho and living near my parents the final few years before be passed away, Oct. 18, 2019.
He loved Idaho – absolutely loved being an Idaho boy, but North Dakota was in his blood too. The family stories of North Dakota, where our extended family and parents are from, were now my brothers’ own. He took great pride in that. My brother lays to rest in two places. He is at Garden Valley Lutheran Church, just outside of Watford City, N.D., near generations of our family dating to the early 1900's. He is also at at the base of a tree on a beautiful summit in the Sawtooth Mountain Range near Deadwood Reservoir outside Garden Valley, Idaho. This was one of his favorite places to be before he passed. This tree is the standalone one in the center of the picture you see on this site and will see throughout my branding.
Cody was all about legacy, from our family’s roots in North Dakota and Norway, to establishing his own. My brother established a legacy — one of grit, grace, gratitude, and ‘shirt off his back’ friendship.
